Senator Rubio Displays GOP Dishonesty

The Republicans cannot escape themselves.  Here Senator Mark Rubio describe his electorate as “rude and stupid” but I bet none of them that would have been there at a town hall would have ever publicly avowed reassurance about the size of his penis!  And I could go much further in painting a picture of how the GOP turns a blind eye to Trump’s overt affront to common sense and human decency.

I pontificate here about politics because politics like all expressions of our collective life are an expression of our collective soul.  And this current malady that is twisting and turning on our table for the whole world to see is speaking volumes about what the GOPs has denied for decades…at least…but our entire country has to recognize some culpability. Like any tribe, we choose to deny our darkest impulses in order to fashion some semblance of order, to contrive a “consensually validated reality.”  As one poet put it, E. F. Mayo I think, “Only a tissue thin current in the brain shuts out the coiled recumbent landlord.”

It is the function of religion in most tribes to call the establishment to task for its chicanery and evil.  But so often religion itself is co-opted by the culture and rather than call the establishment to task humiliates itself in the self-indulgent pietry that the powers that be “graciously,”  and self-servingly affords it.  And it will continue to offer religion this indulgence if it just will not offer any challenges. “With devotions visage and pious action we sugar o’er the devil himself.”  Shakespeare.
