Trump vs. McCain: Show-down at the OK Corral

The Republicans apparently will have to deal with more bad news about their effort to repeal and replace Obamacare as the Congressional Budget Office is expected to report their efforts will lead to millions of people losing health care coverage.  But, by now we know that the GOP has a tried-and-true answer for this little problem, simply respond with, “That ain’t so!”  Anything that does not  fit into their scheme of things is simply rejected as untrue or”fake news” and their party’s base sips that latest flavor of their poisonous kool-aid. (

Reality-checking is a problem for us all but with the GOP it is totally out of control, best illustrated in the impulse-ridden, megalomaniac, leader.  Since he had to face the “terrible two’s” when a child first deals the limits of the outside world, no one has set boundaries for the Donald.  The Republican Party was appalled at him as the election unfolded in 2015 and 2016, but they routinely indulged his overtly inappropriate, rude, and dangerous behavior and speech.  And, once again he got by with it as he has all of his life.  Even “God” couldn’t stop him on this occasion as evangelical Christians loved that kool-aid also!

But Senator John McCain appears to have the cahones to call Trump’s bluff.  He is attempting to do so, telling Trump to basically “put up or shut up” about his bizarre accusation that President Obama was responsible for security leaks in Trump Towers.  It will be interesting to see how Trump’s team responds to this challenge as they know Trump cannot utter the words “I made a mistake” or “I misspoke” or anything near an admission of fault. And equally bad is that tons of money is now being spent by highly-paid staff and advisers as they huddle together trying to come up with some response that Trump can offer. I predict it will be a doosie!  The American people had better get their shovels ready!
